Am I Too Old to Have My Teeth Straightened?
You are never too old! Today’s orthodontic techniques are gentle, predictable, and many cases can be done faster than you think. For many, the wait is over, the kids are done, and now it’s your turn! Others had braces once, but things have relapsed and need realignment. In as little as 6 months, you can have a smile that you can be proud of.
Can I just straighten my front teeth?
Absolutely! We do this for patients all the time, even with moderate to severe crowding. In moderate crowding, teeth can be slenderized using a small strip of sand paper that gives us the room to straighten and recreate a normal smile.
Even in cases of severe lower crowding, we can remove one small tooth and realign the rest, recreating a perfect smile!
How long will my teeth stay straight?
For the rest of your life, if we choose the right retainers and we keep an eye on things every six months. The most predictable retainers are “fixed lower retainers.”
A tiny wire is “bonded” to the backside of your 6 lower front teeth. It stays in your mouth and is always working to keep more than just your lower teeth in alignment. Since the lowers fit inside the uppers, the lower fix retainer also prevents your upper teeth from drifting backwards or sideways.
